A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie. -Tenneva Jordan

Even though people tell you that your entire life will change after having children, no one can truly prepare you for all of the transformations that occur after becoming a mom. Everything changes from your marriage relationship to your bathing routine.

I was prepared for the big life alterations: the lack of spontaneous outings, sleepless nights, and the loss of privacy. What surprised me was how much I would change after becoming a mom and sometimes it was the little things that surprised me the most. There are certain universal changes that miraculously occur with motherhood.

Here is a list of ten signs that you are now a mom:

1. You no longer carry a cute little purse, you now have the big mom bag.

2. You always carry with you the following emergency supplies:

Wet Wipes
Hand Sanitizer
Juice Boxes
Snack Bars
Crayons and Paper
Small Toys
3. You announce to your dinner companions that you are going to go "potty".

4. You go to the bathroom with the door open because you know as soon as you shut the door some child will be on the outside calling your name.

5. The last time you slept through the night was before you got pregnant with your first child.

6. You used to take a 30-minute bubble bath before you went to bed. Now you have perfected the three-minute shower.

7. You have forgotten that you and your husband have names other than mom and dad.

8. You can't remember if you shaved your legs this week.

9. Sexy lingerie has been replaced with T-shirts and cotton lounge pants.

10. You are so tired that you often prefer sleep to sex.

Relationship changes

Not only does your life change, your marriage and sexual relationship also changes after becoming parents. Now you are so focused on your children, that it becomes easy to lose focus on your partner. Just remember that the most precious gift that you can give your children is a strong marriage.
